You could say that all of South Beach is an outdoor gym. But there are a couple of places that make it even easier and more fun to Nancercize. Read about bars and Barstarzz, amoeba-shaped benches, an “adult playground,” and turtle-safe lights.

What’s a Nancercize class like? A month or two ago, two charming young ladies from the Columbia University School of Journalism came knocking on our “door.” The video that grew out of that search is now viewable on the Uptowner website. In 1 minute and 40 seconds they pretty well captured the essence of Nancercize. Have a look and see for yourself.

Are you a little too busy right now? Maybe you haven’t gotten all your gift buying done yet? But, you really want to show people that you care. You want to buy locally, or at least buy something made in America, something that doesn’t hurt the health of the recipient or the health of the planet. Are you feeling more of a time crunch than usual? Maybe you’re having more trouble than usual getting the exercise you KNOW you need? Lucky for us, park and playground designers are including water elements and shower sprays more often in new designs and in re-designs. Go on, reward yourself after a steamy workout and be a kid again!

Whether we feel the effects of age or of an injury, we need to keep going and be creative about it. How are you handling aging or an injury? Or, how have you in the past?

High-energy music can motivate you and keep you going while exercising, and can help you stick to a certain pace. But here’s the possible downside: hearing impairment, tinnitus (ringing in your ears), high blood pressure, heart disease, annoyance and stress, sleep disturbances, immune system changes and birth defects. Here’s how avoid them.
