It’s time for Celebrity Nancercize!

A month or two ago, two charming young ladies from the Columbia University School of Journalism came knocking on our “door.” The video that grew out of that search is now viewable on the Uptowner website. In 1 minute and 40 seconds they pretty well captured the essence of Nancercize. Have a look and see for yourself:

Here’s the text:
Even on a chilly winter morning, you can find Nancy Bruning leading her outdoor fitness class in Fort Tryon Park. The class, which meets three times a week, allows participants to move at their own paces as the group spends an hour walking and stretching. “For one class I had a 10-year-old and an 85-year-old and everything in between,” said Bruning, who has led the program since 2003. She’s now preparing for the cold months ahead. “Even if it snows, it’s beautiful. We love the snow,” she said. “It’s a totally different experience.”

Now that you’re all inspired, don’t forget that the “Nancercize” book still makes a great belated holiday gift.

  1. Nancy, great video! Really captures the camaraderie and love of nature that truly is the essence of Nancercize. I only wish it showed how challenging the fitness walk is for all ages — my kids, who are in their 20s and very fit (they run, lift weights, and do Yoga), both said it is a real workout!!
